Nikki Beth Hall-McClure, 65, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on May 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 30, 1961, the daughter of Merle and Betty McClure. Nikki spent most of her life in Pittsburg, the community she knew and loved.

Nikki was well known throughout Southeast Kansas for her years as a radio DJ; the majority of her DJ career was at KOMB/KMDO Radio in Fort Scott from the mid-1980s through the mid-1990s. She brought energy, humor, and heart to the airwaves, becoming a familiar and comforting voice to countless listeners. Known for her vibrant personality and memorable music selections, Nikki had a natural ability to connect with people through music and conversation. Whether introducing a favorite song, sharing a laugh, or brightening someone’s day during their drive home, she left a lasting impression on her audience and was deeply appreciated by the community she entertained for so many years.

She will also be remembered for her kind heart, compassionate spirit, and the love she had for animals, especially cats. She dedicated much of her time to caring for stray and feral cats, helping with trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts, and feeding animals in every neighborhood she called home. Nikki was a loyal and trusted friend to many. She had a special gift for making others feel safe, heard, and understood. Her warmth, empathy, and willingness to listen made her someone people could always turn to in difficult times. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son, Jake Banwart; four siblings, Becky Lawson (Mike) Webb City KS, Berry McClure (Teresa) Nevada MO, Paula McClure Joplin MO, and Lori Hixon (Mike) Fort Scott KS; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David McClure; her niece, Sara McClure; and her sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Fields.

A celebration of Nikki’s life will be held at a future date, which will be announced by the family.
In honor of Nikki’s love for animals, memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter or TNR (trap-neuter-return) program.
