Dee Ann D’Amico, 65, of Mulberry, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Girard Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born on Aug. 20, 1960, in Fort Scott, Kansas, Dee Ann was the beloved daughter of Don and Margaret (Wilson) Wilson. She attended St. Mary’s Colgan schools and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life as a member of Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Fort Scott and an attendee of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac.
With over 25 years of dedicated service at Pittsburg State University’s Housing Department, Dee balanced full-time work with her studies, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree driven by her passion for biology and nature. At the time of her passing, she was serving as a Librarian, deeply committed to her patrons.
Above all, Dee will be remembered for her deep love and devotion to children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and foster grandmother whose heart knew no limits. Affectionately known as “Mammie,” Dee lovingly cared for and embraced more than 30 foster grandchildren, treating each one as family and leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Rachelle D’Amico of Bixby, Oklahoma; her son, Tony D’Amico of Iola, Kansas; her cherished granddaughter, Ariana D’Amico; and her brothers, Doug Wilson of Pittsburg, Kansas, and David Wilson of Sarcoxie, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Margaret (Wilson) Wilson.
Dee’s legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for family and children will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, with Fr. Josh Evans as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburg. Parish Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, May 22, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg.
