Tim Pierce has been hired as Pittsburg State’s assistant athletics director of facilities, PSU athletics director Anthony Crespino announced Wednesday.

Pierce replaces Beau Schultz, who was named the Gorillas’ softball coach earlier this week.

Pierce is back on campus after serving first as a student employee in the athletics department from 2011-15 and later as the full-time equipment/facilities manager from 2015-20. He worked in the PSU Physical Plant from 2020-24 before venturing into the public sector the last two years.
"I'm excited to be back at Pittsburg State University," Pierce said in a release. "To be a part of the vision and leadership that Anthony has is a tremendous honor. Pitt State is a special place that my family has and always will call home."

Pierce, a 2015 PSU graduate, has deep roots with the university. He is the son of John Pierce, a long-time assistant football coach for the Gorillas, and Sunny York Pierce, a PSU Hall of Fame women’s basketball player.

Pierce and his wife, LaRee, live and Carl Junction, Mo., and have a son Nash, who turned 2 in January.

“I’m incredibly excited to welcome Tim back to Pitt State,” Crespino said. “Few people love this university the way Tim does. He’s humble, works relentlessly, puts the team above himself and genuinely cares about doing things the right way. Those are the kinds of people we’re committed to bringing back to Pitt State.”
