Kent Alan Thompson, age 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior, June 4, 2026, while at Mercy Pittsburg. Kent lived in several areas, but always considered SE Kansas his home. He arrived in this world on Aug. 3, 1963, in Joplin, Missouri to Lyndon and Mary Lou (Bertella) Thompson.
He attended Elementary and Jr. High School at Cherokee Attendance Center, attended Pflugerville High School for one year, and graduated from Southeast High School.
He attended Pittsburg State University and while there met Theresa Sharp. They married and from that union had two daughters. They later divorced.
Kent had many endeavors during his short lifetime, with his primary passion being photography. He loved making memories for people, during weddings, parties and other events. His other joy was working for a friend/owner of Sonic in Pittsburg. He began working during his high school years and quickly became Manager.
Later in life, he reunited with a high school sweetheart, Patricia (Patty Meyer) Soucy. After a short reunion they married on Dec. 24, 2012. Kent did all he could for his loved ones, especially his wife Patty. Together, they cared for each other with great love. This union expanded his family, and he became a Papa and eventually a Great Grandpa. He was greatly loved by all the Grands and Greats.
Kent was a member of the Cherokee Methodist Church in Cherokee for the past several years. He helped however he could, while his health allowed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndon & Mary Lou Thompson, grandparents, William & Mary Bell Bertella, Joe Carl & Faye Thompson, several aunts and uncles.
This caring, giving Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Papa, Uncle & Friend leaves behind his wife, Patricia, children: Eletha Thompson (Jake), Kimberlee Yassa (Edward), Bonus Son, Eric Soucy (Brandy). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Braston, Hannah, Harlee, William & Brielle.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Kent, Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at the Cherokee Methodist Church, 312 W. Magnolia, in Cherokee.
He is an organ donor and will be cremated and laid to rest at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Family to help offset expenses or to Cherokee Methodist Church of Cherokee, KS.
