Brewer named D2 player of year

Pittsburg State senior Dagen Brewer has been named the NCAA Division II Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
Brewer, a left fielder from Topeka, batted .442 with 87 runs scored, 24 doubles, 25 home runs and a D2 single-season record 107 runs batted in while playing in 56 games. He led the MIAA in the triple crown categories and ranks third nationally in runs scored and on-base percentage (.573).

He also ranks seventh in slugging percentage (.970) and RBI (1.91 per game).

Brewer was first-team All-MIAA pick as well as the conference Player of the Year honoree. He was a first-team All-Region selection and the Central Region Player of the Year from both the NCBWA and the D2 Conference Commissioners Association.
