The semifinal and final sites for the 2028 high school basketball championships will all be located within the Wichita area, the KSHSAA and Visit Wichita announced Thursday.
This will be the first time since 1945 that all the championship games will be this close in proximity.
Koch Arena at Wichita State, the Garvey Center at Friends University in Wichita and the Heartland Credit Union Arena in Park City will have the semifinal, third-place and championship games for boys and girls in six classes.
Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson will be the host for the Class 2A boys and girls semifinals and finals.
“State championship tournaments feature Kansas student-athletes on the biggest stage for the most important games of their season,” KSHSAA Executive Director Bill Faflick said in a release. “With all games in the greater Wichita area, fans will be able to support the best of the best in the pursuit of the ultimate prize in high school sports while witnessing the thrill of victory across multiple championship tournaments.”
The quarterfinal round of the 2028 state tournament will use the same sites established for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
