AFG: Umbrella Flower Bouquet w/Sarah Prince

1 to 3 p.m.; $40 fee; ages 8+; 14 seats — Turn a simple umbrella into a charming springtime arrangement that's part decor, part conversation piece. In this cheerful hands-on workshop, we'll create hanging "bouquets" using faux flowers tucked inside a folded umbrella - perfect for brightening doorways, entryways, or gifting someone who could use a little seasonal magic. You'll choose from a curated selection of blooms, greenery, ribbons, and embellishments to create soft pastels, bold color pops, or cottage-garden charm. All materials provided.

Every Tuesday. Doors open at 5 p.m. Public is welcome. Early Bird starts at 6:30 p.m. High Roller Black Out will pay $1,200 for 58 numbers. Progressive Black Out pays $375 for 54 numbers. If no one wins Progressive Black Out, $25 is added to the jackpot.

3 to 6 p.m.; $150 fee; Age 16 +; 8 seats — Stained glass for beginners includes demos, handouts, and practical application. Protective eye wear required. No open-toed shoes. All tools and materials provided.

This is a 5-week course. Additional classes will be 12 to 3 p.m. on June 4, June 11, June 18, and June 25.

Talking Heads Discussion Group

The Talking Heads study and dialogue group will meet at 9 a.m. every Friday morning at Pittsburg Public Library. Using The Great Courses Series from The Teaching Company, participants watch a 30-minute DVD lecture followed by group discussion.

Southeast Kansas Recycling

The SEKR tunnel will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for drop-off of recyclables, to include cardboard, boxes/brown paper inside, aluminum cans, tin cans, #1 plastics, newsprint, white copy paper, textiles, and lead acid batteries. Fee is $10/car or become a member and get 1 free tunnel/month. Card or cash accepted. Sign up to volunteer, and you can bring recyclables at no charge. Ask for info at the tunnel.
