PITTSBURG, Kan. — Wednesday afternoon, the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce commemorated the recent renovations with a ribbon cutting at Americare Carrington Place, located at 1909 E. 4th Street.

After five months of construction, the assisted living and community area building remodel was completed last month.

Americare Senior Living Regional Operations Director Erin Malotte was unsure when the building was last updated, but she said it was definitely due for an overhaul.

Each of the 31 assisted living rooms, along with the private dining space, activity room, living room, kitchen, dining room and administrative offices had a modernized update.

“We have an incredible team here that takes really, really great care of our residents, and it was just really time that the environment matched the care that they provide,” Malotte said. I am so excited for people in the area to see what we do here.”

Malotte said the residents were very patient during the construction and that they are loving the new spaces.

“They are very excited to see this change,” she said.

Americare Carrington also features 16 cottages for independent living that were not part of the recent remodel.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Americare Regional Vice President Carrie Johnson thanked the staff and especially the residents for being patient and tolerant of the noise and construction mess. She also thanked the leadership and development team for all their hard work.

“A building is never just a building,” Carrie Johnson “This is where we live, this is where we work, and we want everyone to always feel welcome here.”
