Brian Hert struck out 16 batters as seventh-seeded Sedan blanked 10th-seeded Northeast 8-0 Thursday afternoon in a Class 2-1A Regional 3 game in Sedan.

Hert allowed three hits and walked two in his complete-game effort.

Two singles by Wyatt Stansbury and one by Bruce DeBusk accounted for the three hits by the Vikings (7-16).

The Blue Devils (8-13) took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Mason Angell stroked three singles to lead Sedan’s 16-hit attack. Taylor Draper and Ashton Carpenter each had two hits and two runs batted in.

Northeast starter Jaxson Payne gave up nine hits and five runs in 3 1/3 innings, struck out three batters and walked one. Relievers Camryn Stansbury and Dalton Sherman each fanned one batter.
