PITTSBURG, Kan. — 24-year-old Austeen E. Legitt, of Pittsburg, and 39-year-old Jacob Denton were arrested and charged with burglary and theft relating to a series of three break-ins that occurred last week.
The Pittsburg Police Department reported that at approximately 7:21 p.m. Sunday, May 3, police responded to a call at 600 Memorial Drive regarding a burglary at the ball fields concession stand. A city employee found a broken window and items missing. The police collected video footage that showed the theft occurring earlier in the day.
At approximately 12:12 a.m. Saturday, May 9, officers responded to a commercial alarm at Four Oaks Golf Course, 910 Memorial Drive. A glass door had been shattered and video footage showed a suspect breaking the door and stealing items. Officers determined the suspect was the same person involved in the concession stand burglary.
Several hours later, at approximately 9:59 a.m., May 9, Pittsburg PD responded to a call at Mai Thai Massage, 810 N. Broadway. The glass door there was shattered, and items were missing from the business. From the video footage, officers determined that a male and female suspect were involved in the burglary.
The female suspect was identified, and on Tuesday, May 12, at 10:35 a.m., officers questioned Legitt and arrested her for one count of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft in the Mai Thai Massage burglary. Legitt was released on bond.
Pittsburg PD could not identify the male subject and requested the public’s help via social media.
On Friday, May 15, at approximately 1:15 p.m., officers located Denton in the 3200 block of North Broadway and he was taken in for questioning. Denton was arrested for three counts of felony burglary, three counts of misdemeanor theft and three counts of misdemeanor criminal damage. Denton is being held without bond.
Legitt and Denton are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing.
