“I’m super excited,” Riska said. “They seemed very supportive and positive. It seems like a great environment and I just love dancing so much that I had to keep going and see what the future brings. I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old.

“I just love expressing myself and everyone in the studio is just so positive and so happy; we all love one another, it’s like one big family.”

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Wilson said. “I’m really happy. Whenever I went into the school, I just felt like I was joining part of a family. They seem super open and welcoming. Me being part of the spirit squad wasn’t planned or anything, it was a last-minute decision that I’m super excited about.

“I’ve been dancing since I was about 4 years old. I just couldn’t let go of it, so I wanted to keep on with my journey. I like how (dance) gives me space to express myself and it makes me feel free.”

Riska and Wilson’s coaches both sung their pupils’ praises.

“She’s put so much hard work and time and effort, so it’s really cool to see her continue that,” dance coach Maddy Vacca said. “She’s a great addition to any team that she would join. She’s dependable, respectful, resilient and I’ve been fortunate to coach her these last three years and got to see her grow so much. This is so cool and we’re super proud of you and we’re real excited to continue watching you do what you love.”

“I taught Chloe in dance for many years now,” dance coach Elizabeth Smith said. “So, I’ve got to know her and she’s always a really hard worker, especially this past year. I’ve seen her work super hard, even though it’s senior year and she could just be done with it. She works so hard, gives 100% into every single class and that’s just inspiring for me to see. She’s always super positive and encouraging to her teammates, so I can’t wait for her to bring that positive energy to her next dance team. We can’t wait to see you dance.”
