Pittsburg softball finished the regular season 20-4 overall and enter postseason play with an 11-game winning streak after sweeping visiting Ottawa on Thursday, 3-0 and 9-1.
The Purple Dragons earned the sweep with five runs in the sixth following four single-run tallies in a row. Brecken Campbell led the Dragons with three hits and Brette Pasteur and Peyton Morey each added two; Pasteur drove in three runs and Campbell two and she also scored three runs. Pasteur homered and Campbell, Breck Slaughter, Pasteur, Kenleigh Warford, Micah Gomez and Morey each doubled. Campbell also stole two bases.
Slaughter earned the win and she allowed one run (earned) on nine hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.
Warford led the Dragons with three hits and Pasteur and Slaughter each drove in a run. Campbell scored twice and Warford scored the other Dragon run. The Dragons scored one in the second, third and fifth innings.
