Rylie Meyr drove in four runs to lead Galena past Northeast 11-5 Thursday in a prep softball regular-season finale in Arma.
The Bulldogs (19-7) grabbed the lead with six runs in the second inning. Singles by Madyson Boyes and Kyndel Hunt set the table before all six runs scored after two were out.
Dakota Bennett’s double to left field scored the first run, and Morgan Strong followed with a two-run double to center. Makenzy New reached on an outfield error that allowed a run to score, and Meyr’s double and Makaila Matthews’ single each scored a run for a 6-0 lead.
Meyr slugged a two-run home run in the sixth inning and hit a sacrifice fly to center in the seventh.
Boyes had two singles and a double to lead the Bulldogs’ 13-hit attack. New and Matthews added two hits apiece.
Winning pitcher Strong struc, out four batters and walked none while allowing six hits and two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.
Erin Doubledee had a single and double for two of the six hits by the Vikings (19-5). Ceeli O’Banion drove in two runs with a single to cap a three-run second inning, and Brylee Rakestraw, Addison Coates and Karsyn Choate each had one RBI.
Northeast starter Presley Warford struck out two batters in two innings. Doubledee and pitched two innings and struck out three, and Ciara Neville fanned two in the last three innings.
