Frontenac’s girls and Girard’s boys captured team championships in the CNC League track and field meet on Thursday at Frank Jameson Stadium in Girard.
The Raiders accumulated 164 points, followed by Girard 140, St. Mary’s Colgan 102, Riverton 78, Baxter Springs 34, Galena 22 and Columbus 4.
Reece Franklin accounted for 36 points for Frontenac, winning the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches) and 300-meter hurdles (48.24 seconds) and taking second in the long jump and triple jump.
Emerson Albright earned 28 points by winning the 800 (2:26.25) and 3200 (12:23.41) and placing second in the 800.
The Raiders also had first-place performances from Ella Blythe in the pole vault (9-6) and Ava Lilly in the javelin (122-1).
Also taking second place were Macie Payne in the javelin, Breklyn Condon in the 400 and Cera Schenck in the 3200. Third places went to Grace Jameson in the pole vault and 100 hurdles, Taylor Holt in the discus and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Girard had two event winners as Karsyn O’Rand won the long jump (16-5.50) and Addison Bowman won the 100 hurdles (16.33). O’Rand also was second in the 200.
The Trojans’ Marli Sisney and Maddie Coester tied for second in the high jump. Other second places went to August Mooneyham in the pole vault, Kennedy Keller in the 80 and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Taking third were Regan Oplotnik in the long jump and 100, Keller in the javelin, Hemi Oney in the shot put and Skyler Kramer in the 3200.
Colgan also picked up two victories with Mari Gilmore in the 1600 (5:16.88) and the 4x400 relay team of Kayla Hutchinson, Alli Karleskint, Gillian Wilbert and Katie Paulie (4:17.39).
Paulie also was second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, and Sarah Schibi took second in the shot put. Third places went to Hutchinson in the triple jump, Gilmore in the 800, Karleskint in the 1600 and Aubrey Scripsick in the 400.
BOYS MEET
Girard won three events and ran away with the team championship with 173 points.
Baxter Springs took second with 98, followed by Frontenac 80.5, Colgan 74, Riverton 69.5, Columbus 41 and Galena 14.
The Trojans’ gold medalists were William Bishop in the shot put (63-1), Gannon Clark in the javelin (179-8) and Sammy Blair in the 300 hurdles (41.01).
Bishop also took second in the discus, and the Trojans also had second places from Perrin Stevens in the high jump, Adarrius Valley in the pole vault, Lemont Love in the triple jump, Easton Clark in the javelin, Andrew Trindal in the 110 hurdles, Fletcher Ulbrich in the 1600 and 3200, Gavin Huber in the 800 and the 4x400 relay team.
Third places went to Huber in the 1600, Mason Adolph in the 400 and the 4x100 relay.
Frontenac’s Kruz Pickle won the pole vault with a clearance of 13-6.
Third-place finishers for the Raiders were Ethan Merrick in the discus and shot put, Cam Brown in the 110 hurdles, Austin Weimer in the 3200 and the 4x400 relay.
Colgan’s Colton Smithhisler swept the 1600 (4:50.77) and 3200 (10:20.60).
Klayton Adamson had three top-3 finishes, winning the long jump (22-10) and running second in the 100 and third in the 200.
The Panthers’ Michael Vacek took third place in the 800.
