PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg driver crashed into Lotus Express Wednesday morning and sustained minor injuries, according to the Pittsburg Police Department.
The police reported that at approximately 6:09 a.m. June 24, officers were dispatched to Lotus Express, 412 S. Broadway Street, where a 2008 Nissan Titan truck struck the side of the restaurant causing a large hole on the south side of the building.
20-year-old Willie Earl Williams III sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Pittsburg. According to police, there was no indication of impairment. Officers determined Williams fell asleep, crossed traffic lanes, left the roadway and struck the building.
The building was secured by inspectors, Evergy and Kansas Gas Service. Lotus Express had not been open for business for several months.
