CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. — A hit-and-run in Crawford County Friday morning left a Pittsburg man injured, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:10 a.m. Friday morning in the southern portion of the county on 240th St. Near 510th Ave., 1.25 miles north of K-171.
The report stated that a 2023 International was southbound on 240th St. just north of 510th Ave. while an unknown vehicle and trailer was northbound on 240th St. The vehicle and trailer entered the southbound lane, which caused the International to steer right to avoid a collision.
The International’s passenger side tire then dropped off the edge of the roadway, causing the vehicle to strike the ditch and overturn. The International slid down the ditch, coming to a rest halfway in the roadway and halfway in the west ditch.
While the driver and vehicle remain unidentified, the driver of the International, 35-year-old Joshua Alan Gabriel of Pittsburg, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital Pittsburg for treatment. The Kansas Highway Patrol noted that Gabriel wore his safety restraint at the time of the crash.
