PFD responds to East Sixth house fire

Firefighters respond to early morning blaze on the 1300 block of East Sixth Street Saturday. While the structure sustained heavy damage, it was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.

PITTSBURG, Kan. — On Saturday, May 30, 2026, at approximately 12:41 a.m., the Pittsburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1307 E 6th Street.

Upon arrival heavy smoke and fire conditions were encountered, the bulk of which was at the front of the structure. Fire crews brought blaze under control in 20 minutes. At the tie of the fire, the house was unoccupied but suffered major smoke and fire damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted for assistance and the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
