Jeff K. Leverenz

Jeff K. Leverenz, 76, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg.

Jeff was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Chanute, Kansas, a son of Albert Cole and Doreen (Knoles) Leverenz. He graduated from Chanute High School and attended Chanute Community College and Emporia State University.   

Jeff played trumpet in several bands including Showmen and Common Few and was inducted into the Kansas Musician’s Hall of Fame.

Jeff married Cindi A. Showalter on Aug. 13, 1971, in Chanute and Cindi survives of the home. 

He was an insurance salesman and a golf pro, and he enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, playing golf, bowling, and fishing.

He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, Kansas and he attended Pitt Naz in Pittsburg.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Cindi, of the home, are his sons, Jerod Leverenz and Jeffrey Leverenz, both of Pittsburg; his daughter, Lisa Leverenz of Pittsburg; his grandchildren, Isaac Leverenz, Mira Leverenz, and Basia Karnes; his brothers, Laird Leverenz of Buffalo, Kansas and Neil Leverenz of Haslet, Texas.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Girard with Pastor Adam Parrish officiating.
