Pittsburg boys golf finished second and placed four golfers in the top-10 Tuesday during the par-72 Southeast Kansas League Championship at Crestwood Country Club.
The Purple Dragons carded a four-man team score of 336, one shot behind league tournament champion Independence. Fort Scott finished third at 344, Chanute fourth at 357, Labette County fifth at 372 and Coffeyville sixth at 401, and Parsons did not have enough players for a team score.
Dylan Ward finished third at 7-over 79, then Mason Deringer was sixth at 85, Jace Akins eighth at 85 and Charlie Hall 10th at 87. Luke Lowe and Lucas Hull were 21st and 29th at 94 and 100, respectively.
Independence's Ethan Small earned medalist honors with a 2-over 74 and Fort Scott's Reece Roberts finished three shots back to claim second place.
Independence's Jack Cope placed fourth at 82, Chanute's Kobe Patterson fifth at 83 and Labette County's Reece Ludwig and Lane Wolsey were seventh and ninth at 85 and 87.
Pittsburg returns to the course next Monday for the 5A sub-state tournament hosted by Andover Central at the Terradyne Country Club in Andover.
