PITTSBURG, Kan. — This Saturday at the Pittsburg Farmers’ Market, located at 119 E. 11th Street, children are invited to create a special gift for their mothers.
“We’re excited to offer a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate Mother’s Day while supporting our amazing local vendors,” Farmers’ Market manager Kayla Howard said in an email.
Starting at 9 a.m. May 9, children can decorate a flowerpot and add a real flower to take home for free and give to their mothers for Mother’s Day on Sunday. There are 120 pots and flowers, so the activity is first-come, first served.
“Our goal is to celebrate mothers while supporting our local vendors and bringing the community together,” Howard said.
Larry and Vicki Hill and Van Becelaere Greenhouse are sponsoring the activity by providing the flowers.
“We appreciate the generous sponsorship for the kid's day activity from Larry and Vicki Hill,” Howard said.
The Pittsburg Farmers’ Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon. Mothers and their children also will have a chance to take “Mommy and Me” pictures for free. Live music will be provided by Nick Sarwinkski, and according to the Pittsburg Farmers’ Market page, this Saturday will have the most vendors to date in the 2026 season.
