Durden inks with Independence CC basketball
Danny Durden

Pittsburg senior Danny Durden signed his letter of intent Monday afternoon to continue his academic and athletic career at the next level.

Durden will be headed to Independence Community College to play basketball.

“I’m excited,” Durden said. “I’m ready to go play basketball. They showed me love when I went out there. I really enjoyed and they gave me some good vibes.

“(Pittsburg) has given me a lot. I’ve been here most of my life. Since I’ve been young playing basketball and football and been here with all these childhood friends, I’ve had a lot of great times. I really like school and it’s helped me a lot. It got me to where I am now.”

“This is special anytime you get a chance to go continue your academic and athletic journey,” Pittsburg boys basketball coach Jesse Moss said. “Especially for Danny. Me and him got close over the summer and got even closer throughout our season. Again, not only with the ups and downs of basketball but also life. So, to see him in this position when he’s got a chance to go continue his academic and athletic journey, means a lot to his school, his program and I know it means a lot to him and his family. We’re proud of him and we can’t wait to see what he does.”
