KSHSAA released the softball and baseball regional brackets for Class 5A on Saturday and Pittsburg teams found out their destinations and opponents.
Pittsburg softball earned the No. 3 seed in Class 5A East and the right to host Regional 4. The 20-4 Purple Dragons play No. 14 Kansas City Washington (5-20) in the second semifinal 25 minutes after the first between No. 6 St. James Academy (16-10) and No. 11 Leavenworth (10-16).
St. James and Leavenworth have first pitch at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The Dragons are seeking to return to the 5A state tournament and improve on their fourth-place finish last season under first-year head coach Chanc Gomez.
Pittsburg baseball (10-12), despite finishing the regular season by winning 8 of their last 10 games, could not get any higher than the No. 12 seed and the Dragons will travel Wednesday to St. Thomas Aquinas High School for a noon semifinal game against No. 5 Leavenworth (17-9).
Regional host and No. 4 seed Aquinas (18-8) and No. 13 Washington (9-17) play in the other semifinal 25 minutes after Pittsburg-Leavenworth.
The Dragons last advanced to the state tournament in baseball two seasons ago.
