Pittsburg boys golf finished third Monday in the par-70 Chanute Invitational at the Stone Creek Golf Course.
The Purple Dragons carded a four-man team score of 341, scoring 14 points behind first place Chanute and four behind runner-up Fort Scott. Labette County was fourth at 348, Independence fifth at 365, Iola sixth at 375 and Coffeyville seventh at 394.
Pittsburg’s Jace Akins and Charlie Hall both finished inside the top-10 with Akins sixth at 11-over-par 81 and Charlie Hall seventh at 12-over 82.
Pittsburg senior Mason Deringer also finished 11th at 86, just a stroke behind 10th place Hayes McKinney of Chanute, and Dylan Ward rounded out the Dragons’ top four in 23rd at 92.
Luke Lowe finished 26th at 94 and Lucas Hull 35th at 103.
Chanute finished with four top-10s and Braddox Bancroft was fourth at 78, Briggs Bancroft fifth at 80 and Kobe Patterson ninth at 84 in addition to McKinney.
Fort Scott’s Reece Roberts won medalist honors at 73 and teammate Caleb Hall was eighth at 83.
Labette County’s Alden Ebersole finished second at 76.
Iola’s Brennen Coffield was the lone non-Southeast Kansas League golfer to medal with a third-place finish at 78.
Pittsburg returned to the course Tuesday for the SEK League tournament at Crestwood Country Club.
