KSHSAA releases softball regional brackets for 3A, 2-1A

KSHSAA released the sub-regional seeds and pairings for Class 3A and 2-1A softball on Wednesday.

St. Mary’s Colgan (21-3) earned the No. 2 seed in the second 2-1A Regional 3 sub-regional and the Panthers open at home Monday against No. 15 St. Paul (1-15).

The Panthers enter the postseason on a seven-game winning streak.

Southeast (3-18) received the No. 14 seed and the Lancers will be on the road Monday against No. 3 Burden-Central (19-3). The Lancers are on the bottom of the sub-regional bracket.

Northeast (19-3), meanwhile, got the No. 4 seed and the Vikings will play No. 13 Sedan (5-16) at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Frontenac. The Vikings are on the top of the sub-regional bracket and could possibly have to go through top-seeded Cedar Vale/Dexter (23-2) next Wednesday to get to state.

Frontenac (18-4) earned the No. 1 seed in 3A Regional 2 and they host No. 16 Anderson County (2-21) next Tuesday in their sub-regional quarterfinal. The Raiders are the two-time defending 3A state champions.

Girard (8-15) got the No. 13 seed and open next Tuesday against No. 4 West Franklin (15-7) in Pomona.

Class 2-1A teams play on Monday and Wednesday, while 3A teams play Tuesday and Thursday. Thursday will feature three games with two semifinal games preceding the championship game at the highest seed.
