Ruth Buck, 102, of Girard, died at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.

Ruth was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Yale, Kansas, a daughter of George W. and Mary E. (Cochran) Cobb.

She grew up and attended schools in Walnut before moving to Girard in 1947.

Ruth married Charles Don Buck on May 18, 1947, in Girard and Don preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1981.

Ruth worked in the old Girard Hospital, she was a part time telephone operator, and worked part time at the Girard Press. She made wedding cakes for numerous years and in 1966 she began selling Electrolux vacuum cleaners in the Girard area.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Girard and she enjoyed baking.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Buck, and his wife, Karen, of Girard and Roger Buck, and his wife, Deborah, of St. Charles, Missouri; Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Jean Buck, in 1954; her brothers, Calvin Cobb and Howard Cobb; her sisters, Anna Lou Inman and Elizabeth Lyons.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m., Wednesday until service time. Friends may call after 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
