PITTSBURG, Kan. -- When Kiddieland opens in Pittsburg’s Lincoln Park, later this month, it will look almost as bright and shiny as it did when it opened for the first time in 1953. That’s thanks to Pittburg Beautiful and the work of two men from Rapid Restoration in Cleveland, Mo. For several days, the men have been sandblasting, priming and painted some of the rides from the venerable amusement park.

“We’re trying to make it look brand new again,” said Will Bunch of Rapid Restoration.

For generations of local youngsters, Kiddieland is synonymous with summer.
