Host Mount Vernon (Mo.) ended Frontenac's 15-game winning streak in dramatic fashion Friday night on Hailey Stewart's walk-off single in the seventh.

Frontenac freshman pitcher Ace Ogle hit A.J. Shipman with a pitch to start the seventh. Ogle struck out Mary Fields swinging for the first out, but Shipman successfully stole second to get into scoring position for Stewart.

Ogle took the loss and she allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks over 6 1/3 innings. Ogle reached 100 career strikeouts.

Emily Schubert earned the win for the Mountaineers and she allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks over seven innings. Schubert has more than 200 strikeouts this season with 202 in 115 1/3 innings pitched.

Mount Vernon scored one run in the third, two in the fourth and, of course, one in the seventh. The Raiders pushed across single runs in the fourth through sixth innings.

Stevi Likely led Frontenac with three hits and the other four Raider hits against Schubert were all extra-base with doubles from Haydn Goodwin, Paige Unruh and Ogle and a triple from Addison VanBecelaere.

Goodwin's RBI double tied it up in the sixth.

Elli Eddington's two-run home run staked the Mountaineers to a 3-1 lead after four innings.

The Raiders dropped to 15-3 entering their CNC League doubleheader on the road Monday against county, league and regional rival Girard (8-11). The Trojans lost three straight games last week.
