Frontenac girls win team title at Humboldt Invitational

Frontenac girls track and field won the team title and the Raider boys finished second Thursday at the Humboldt Invitational.

The Raiders earned 104 points on the girls side, handily beating out Caney Valley (77.5), Nevada, Mo. (72), St. Mary’s Colgan (65) and the host Cubs (43).

On the boys side, Frontenac tallied 80.5 points, besting third-place Nevada by 3.5 but falling 22.5 points short to team champion Caney Valley (103). Colgan finished eighth at 26.

Reece Franklin sparked the Raider girls with three individual titles. She won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.82 seconds and then won the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches and the triple jump at 36-0.

Emerson Albright won the 3,200 (11.38) and finished second in the 1,600 (5:29). Cera Schenck ran second in the 3,200 (12:48). Breklyn Condon finished second in the 200 (28.49) and sixth in the 100 (14.01). Ella Blythe placed sixth in the 400 (1:10) and Nora Anderson was also sixth in the 1,600 (6:09). Ashlyn Turpin placed fifth in the 3,200 (14:12).

The 4x100 and 4x800 won titles in 50.57 and 10:45.

Ava Lilly won the javelin at 126-5 and placed fourth in the discus (88-6). Macie Payne was third in the javelin (110-1), Grace Jameson fourth in the pole vault (7-6) and Marlie Pennington sixth in the triple jump (30-1 1/2).

Kansas MileSplit had Franklin’s high jump and triple jump marks and Lilly’s javelin mark listed as elite performances meeting the second team standard.

On the boys side, Ethan Merrick, Kayson Houghton and Cooper Jordan were first (52-8), third (46-0) and fourth (45-0) in the shot put. Merrick and Houghton were second (146-10) and fifth (135-11) in the discus.

Kruz Pickle finished second (12-6) and Ryker Tanner fourth (11-6) in the pole vault. Wyatt Collins finished third in the javelin (149-2). Drake Clayton finished sixth in the high jump (5-6).

Austin Weimer finished second in the 1,600 (5:01) and fourth in the 3,200 (11:23). Trent Schenck was fifth in the 3,200 (11:30) and sixth in the 1,600 (5:20), while Scott Sloan ran sixth in the 3,200 (11:50).

Drake Clayton ran fourth in the 200 (24.96) and Kelton Doherty was fifth in the 400 (55.24). The 4x800 was third (9:18) and the 4x100 fourth (45.40).

COLGAN

Mari Gilmore and Gillian Wilbert won individual titles to lead the way for the Panther girls. Gilmore won the 1,600 (5:21) and Wilbert won the 800 (2:30).

Mary Rose Boschee finished third in the 800 (2:33) and Alli Karleskint was also third in the 1,600 (5:30).

Brynn Sukraw and Katie Paulie placed fourth (18.17) and fifth (18.29) in the 100 hurdles and Paulie placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (52.31). The 4x800 was fourth (11:53) and the 4x100 fifth (53.79).

Sarah Schibi finished second in the shot put (33-8) and sixth in the discus (85-11). Kayla Hutchinson took fourth in the long (15-6) and triple (31-1/2) jumps.

On the boys side, Klayton Adamson won titles in the 100 (11.48) and the long jump (22-7 1/2). Michael Vacek finished third in the 800 (2:08) and the 4x400 was sixth (4:15).
