CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. — Beginning Thursday, June 25, the Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP) is to start accepting applications for the Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program.
The TBRA program, funded through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation, provides rental subsidies, security deposits, and utility deposits to eligible people and families, who may receive up to two years of assistance in Allen, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Crawford, Elk, Labette, Linn, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson Counties.
To be considered eligible for assistance, applicants must be certified as “homeless” by a social service agency or helping organization, and be at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) for their county of residence.
The application packet, open at 8 a.m. on June 25, is available by visiting SEK-CAP's website — https://sek-cap.com/services/housing/. The full application must be submitted for consideration, which includes the TBRA application packet, TBRA homeless certification (completed by an agency partner), and all supporting documentation.
SEK-CAP noted in its release that it plans to provide TBRA assistance to eligible households in order of application based on the time and date of the full application. No online application is available, as well.
