Baxter Springs collected 21 hits while sweeping Southeast 16-1 and 18-1 in a pair of four-inning softball games Thursday in Cherokee.
Jada Palmer had a big day for the Lions (13-10). She was the winning pitcher in the first game, striking out nine and walking two while allowing three hits, and she drove in two runs. She had two hits and four RBI in the nightcap with a three-run home run in the first inning and run-scoring double in the third.
Sadie Miller had a single and triple for the first game for the Lions, and Alex Main added two singles. Lexi Hatcher hit a two-run single during a nine-run first inning, and Devyn Hawkins also drove in two runs.
The Lancers (3-18) got their three hits when they scored in the third inning. Nevaeh Ihrer and Kendyl Renn singled and Braelyn Sutton was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Elena White then singled with two outs to score Ihrer.
Emily Schoon was the winning pitcher in the second game, fanning eight and walking four.
Myka Adams had three singles to lead the Lions’ 12-hit attack. Schoon, Palmer and Miller each hit a double.
Southeast’s two hits came in the second when Sutton tripled and scored on Kaylin Walls’ single.
