The Kansas Softball Coaches Association released the all-state selections on Tuesday and a combined 11 players from Crawford County high schools earned recognition in Class 5A, 3A and 2-1A.

Pittsburg seniors Breck Slaughter and Brette Pasteur received first team and freshman Brecken Campbell second team in 5A.

Pasteur and Slaughter, who signed with Grayson (Texas) and Johnson County respectively to play softball at the next level, guided the Purple Dragons to the state tournament in back-to-back seasons.

The Dragons finished their season 22-5 with a 4-2 loss May 26 against St. Thomas Aquinas at Baker University in Baldwin City. Pittsburg also posted an 11-1 record in Southeast Kansas League play, sharing league title honors with 4A state champion Fort Scott.

St. Mary’s Colgan, the 2-1A state champion, took five selections overall with junior pitcher Bella Ascanio, junior catcher Kylee Kretchmar, sophomore infielder Callie Lundy and freshman outfielder Drew Dayton first and sophomore infielder Kara Osborn second team.

The Panthers finished their season 27-3 and earned an unbeaten record through CNC League play at 12-0 under their new head coach Cassie Rhuems.

The Panthers graduated no players from their state championship team.

Frontenac, a 3A state qualifier under first-year head coach Jess Murphy, got junior infielder Gracen McLaren and junior outfielder Stevi Likely on the second team.

The Raiders finished their season 21-5 with a 4-2 loss May 25 in eight innings against Jefferson West and they were 10-2 and second place in the CNC.

Like Colgan, Frontenac graduated no players from a state quarterfinalist team.

Northeast senior infielder Destiny Hagan earned a spot on the 2-1A first team. Hagan, who signed with Lake Land College in Mattoon, Ill., to continue her softball career at the next level, finished her career with 150 hits and 100 stolen bases.

The Vikings ended their season 21-4 with a loss May 20 in a Class 2-1A regional final against eventual third-place state finisher Dexter/Cedar Vale. They won the Three Rivers League outright at 16-0.
