Meth distribution charge leads to arrest in Pittsburg
Lee A. Simoncic

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg woman was taken into custody on Tuesday night in relation to drug possession and the distribution of methamphetamine.

According to the Pittsburg Police Department, officers were on a routine patrol around the 500 block of North Broadway when they observed a 2025 Nissan Rogue traveling northbound on Broadway that ran a red light at the intersection of 5th Street.

The officers then initiated a traffic stop on the Nissan at the intersection of 6th Street and Broadway, meeting with the driver, 55-year-old Lee A. Simoncic of Pittsburg. The officers ran Simoncic’s information, informed of an active warrant for her arrest out of Neosho County District Court for failure to appear. She was taken into custody without incident, transported to theCrawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Upon arrival, Simoncic notified officers that she “had several items of illegal drugs concealed on her person.” Items were believed to be methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia. Items of methamphetamine were found to be in several smaller plastic bags and were “of sufficient weight to believe their intended purpose was distribution.”

Simonic was arrested for her Neosho County arrest warrant along with felony distribution of methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and for no proof of liability insurance.

Simonic is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The incident is still under investigation, according to the Pittsburg Police Department.
