PITTSBURG, Kan. — A piece of Pittsburg history found a new home, Thursday morning.
The neon outdoor sign from the 311 Club, located at 311 E. 7th Street, was taken down and given to its new owner, Lance Seybold.
Seybold purchased most items inside the former bar with plans to restore them, including the outdoor neon sign. He previously purchased the Crowell’s Drug Store sign after its closure in 2016.
Originally from Pittsburg, Seybold said that while he can recall a few unpleasant memories of the 311 Club, most of them are fond.
“When I was a kid, I remember it coming in, and I was friends with Jerry Hazelwood, and we used to come in when there weren’t many people around, and we played pool,” Seybold said. “I was around 14 or so. Then I came here as a young man.”
The 311 Club first opened in 1960 and closed its doors in August 2024. Local business owner Gunner Tony purchased the building and is gradually making renovations to ensure the space can be used once again.
