Judith Ann Thompson, 83, of Scammon, KS died 6:42 p.m. Sunday Sept. 20, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Judith was born Sept. 11, 1943, in Columbus, KS, the daughter of Milo J. and Lorene (Newberry) Hollis. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Columbus High School. In April of 1982 Judith married John R. Thompson in Miami, OK; he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2020. Judith worked most of her life as a homemaker but worked for several years at the Parsons Ammunition Plant.

Judith was of the Christian Faith; she loved reading, painting, cats, Gin Rummy and most of all her family.

Survivors include her children Vince Brackney (Patrick Flynn) Joplin, MO, Andy Brackney (Marie Peterson) of Tallahassee, FL and Tammy Brackney (Jeff Kananagh) Weir, KS; grandson Tyson Hallam (Delanie Sharp) of Scammon, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Gary Hollis.

Private Burial Services will take place at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
