PITTSBURG, Kan. — A 38-year old female and 35-year-old male were arrested Wednesday afternoon following a traffic stop, according to the Pittsburg Police Department.

The police reported that at approximately 1:06 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a tan Chevrolet pickup truck for a traffic violation in the 1200 block of East 16th Street.

Pittsburg Police Department K9 responded to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. The K9 indicated the presence of illegal narcotics, which prompted a search.

During the search, officers located half a pound of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana. A handgun with a defaced serial number was also found.

Michelle Dawn Johnson, of Arma, was arrested for an unrelated warrant in Barton County. The driver, John Douglas Robertson Jr., of Jay, Oklahoma, was arrested and is being charged with felony distribution of suspected methamphetamine, felony possession of suspected methamphetamine, felony defacing identification marks on a firearm, felony criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Johnson and Robertson are being held at Crawford County Jail without bond. They are considered innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time.
