It was a perfect evening for a hike. A late summer thunderstorm had rolled through, dropping the temperature and clearing the air. As the clouds melted into the east horizon and a brilliant sunset painted the western sky, I set out on a familiar trail along Drywood Creek, camera in my pocket and walking stick in my hand. I walked slowly and deliberately, soaking in the sights and sounds of the forest.
