Winter battle ends in tie at Brandenburg Field

Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Nov. 30, 1923 Running without orders in a blinding snowstorm, two inter-urban cars of the Southwest Missouri Railroad crashed head-on at a curve near Galena, Kan., yesterday afternoon. Twelve people were injured, four seriously. The westbound car was traveling downgrade at a fast rate of speed and both motormen applied brakes but failed to check their car speeds before jumping clear of injury.
