Pittsburg Chamber announces coffee schedule
Teacher donations needed for first event

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce is poised to reignite community connections this August with its "Chamber Coffee" series. The events offer local business owners, employees, and residents an opportunity for networking and sharing the latest developments in the area.

“I think the main purpose is networking, just bringing everyone together,” said Pittsburg Chamber Special Events and Membership Director Daisy Flood. “For one, we have crowds of 60 to 75 people every week, so getting everyone together so that they can network but also hear from different local businesses every week about what they offer.”

The first installment of the series takes place at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at Pittsburg High School, located at 1978 E. 4th St. Flood said there is one week left to donate to the Pittsburg Chamber for its “Welcome to Pittsburg” teacher gift bags. Through the initiative, the local chamber provides branded swag, gift certificates, and other promotional items to new teachers at Pittsburg and St. Mary’s Colgan Schools.

“We are just needing anything that you think a teacher might need throughout the school year,” said Flood. “That’s like anything from supplies like Post It notes or pens or anything like that to coupons for your business or even brochures and flyers for your business. A resource that would help out the teachers this year.”

Donations are to be dropped off by Monday, Aug. 3, at the Pittsburg Chamber office, located at 117 W. 4th St. in downtown Pittsburg. Those interested can also call 620-231-1000.

Future Chamber Coffee events, starting at 8 a.m., are The Morning Sun (Aug. 13), Memorial Auditorium (Aug. 20), Paint the Town Red Kick-Off (Aug. 27), Arck Construction (Sept. 3), Little Balkans Days (Sept. 4), Integrated Behavioral Technologies (Sept. 10), First United Methodist Church (Sept. 17), Evergy (Sept. 24), Freeman Health System (Oct. 1), Kelce College of Business (Oct. 8), Midwest Medicare Solutions (Oct. 15), Seventh Day Adventist Church (Oct. 22), and Mercy Hospital (Oct. 29).
