Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, in 1937, Private First Class Oscar Birt served in Korea only a few years after the armistice was signed. He reminisces about working in the parts room of a motor pool attached to the 24th Infantry Division, and of standing guard in freezing temperatures. What follows is Mr. Birt’s own words as recorded by PHS students Kenny Marrone, Cullen Reid, and Chris Rourk in January 1989.
