Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Dec. 9-11, 1923 Plans to rob a filling station on South Broadway at Kansas Avenue may have been foiled yesterday morning by Chief Ross Armstrong. It was not yet 6 o’clock when the chief was driving by the station and noted a suspicious looking trio. When the chief stopped his car and was getting out to question the men they fled and would not halt when he called on them and fired a shot or two.
