Born in Colorado Springs, Tree Mulkin grew up moving between Colorado and Atlanta. The oldest of ten children, she never lived with many of them as she grew up. She decided she did not want to go to college her senior year and turned down all of her offers until her guidance counselor and her mother convinced her otherwise.
