Mary Frances Sayre

Mary Frances Sayre, 63, of Arma, Kansas, died at 8:54 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Sayre was born September 4, 1962, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Barbara Busse Doue. Mary was a lifelong resident of Arma and worked for Poli-Tron/Leisure Time from 1988 to present. She was raised in Arma and graduated from Northeast High School. She participated in all sports and held the record in shotput in track and field from 1980 to 2025. She enjoyed time with family, the annual Thanksgiving shopping trips with family, going to the beach with friends, fishing, and gambling. She married David Sayre on August 14, 1982, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma. Mr. Sayre survives at the home. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society. Additional survivors include a brother, Mike Doue of Pittsburg, three sisters, Kathleen (Bryan) Stroud of Frontenac, Susan (Jody) Buckle of Girard, Donna (Jeff) Buckle of Girard, numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma with Father Daniel Vacca as the Celebrant. Rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday prior to the mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Frontenac, Kansas. Friends may call Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bedene Funeral Home to sign the register book and give memorials as so desired. The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
