Visiting Tigers overpower Colgan baseball

Drew Harder's three-run home run in the first and Jett Snyder's two-run homer in the second powered visiting Nevada (Mo.) to an early 6-0 lead and eventual 11-4 win Friday over host St. Mary's Colgan at historic Jaycee Ballpark.

The Tigers scored two more in the third and three more in the fifth.

Colgan pieced together single runs in the second and third and closed out the scoring with two in the fifth.

Brady Crossland led Colgan with two hits and two walks, reaching base in all four plate appearances against Nevada pitchers Andrew Lynch, Walker Hayes and Kaden Burns. Gabe Brown doubled and drove in two runs to lead the Panthers in RBI; Crossland and Carston Simmons also drove in a run each.

Simmons took the loss and he allowed six runs (four earned) on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk in 1 1/3 innings. Crossland allowed two runs (both unearned) on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks over 1 2/3 innings. Brock Radell allowed three runs (all earned) on two hits with one strikeout and two walks during his one inning on the mound.

Jayden Brown and Badart combined for three scoreless innings of relief with Brown working through the fourth and Badart the sixth and seventh. Both pitchers struck out and walked two during their time on the mound.

Lynch earned the win and he allowed two runs (both earned) on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 2 2/3 innings. Colgan scored two earned runs against Hayes on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks over 2 1/3. Burns allowed no runs on no hits in the sixth and seventh and worked through a pair of walks with a pair of strikeouts.

Colgan dropped to 10-6 on the season and the Panthers brought a season-long three-game losing streak into Monday's home CNC League doubleheader against Columbus at Jaycee.

Nevada improved to 15-5 overall.
