Pittsburg and Fort Scott have a pigskin rivalry dating back more than a century, and it has traditionally favored the Purple Dragons. One of the head coaches in Friday night’s game has been on both sides of the rivalry. Pittsburg second-year head coach Josh Lattimer graduated from Fort Scott in 2001 and won state championships his senior year in football, wrestling (215 pounds) and the javelin in track and field.
