There’s one aspect to my job that’s taken a back seat since 2020 (for obvious reasons) and that is programming. I admit I prefer selecting books for the collection and getting them into the hands of readers because, well, planning a program is just harder. Coming up with a topic that will attract an audience, then finding a knowledgeable presenter, then scheduling a time that doesn’t conflict with other events — it’s certainly not as easy as looking through a journal of book reviews to help come up with new titles to order.
