When we, a group of local businesspeople, decided to purchase the Morning Sun in the summer of 2021, we knew this wasn’t going to be an easy journey, but one that is worthwhile for our community to bring back local news written by local writers because we believe communities still need reliable local newspapers. We walked into this business when the media landscape was changing, the corporate culture gobbling up small town businesses (including newspapers), the very noisy and rhetorical political landscape, we were coming out of  the pandemic which had  delivered a critical gut-punch to the whole economy, including national circulation of newspapers. We were bound to have some bumps along the way as we try to put this community newspaper back to being the essential local information lifeline for local news.
