Clarice Mae Swezey

Clarice Mae Swezey, 90, of rural Mulberry, Kansas died at 6:28 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Swezey was born April 27, 1936, in Arcadia, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil and Florence Burge Wheeler. Clarice was a homemaker and had been a lifelong resident of the Mulberry-Arcadia area. She was raised in Arcadia and attended Arcadia Schools. She married William “Bill” Swezey on Aug. 22, 1953, in Arcadia. Mr. Swezey survives at the home. Additional survivors include five daughters, Wilma Gesslein of Mulberry, Pamela Denise (Danny) Drake of Auburn, Kansas, Billie Sue (Wes) Johnson of Bronson, Clarice Elaine Cronister of Arcadia, and Rhonda (Jerry) Portwood of Mulberry, six grandchildren, Racheal Gesslein, Dana (Kyle) Ellis, Clint (Angela) Johnson, Bryan Drake, Brandi (Mitch) Spainhoward, and Matthew (Breezie) Castro, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a sister, Fern Stephens of Arcadia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bob Wheeler.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas with Randy Jones giving the eulogy. Burial will be at the Sheffield Cemetery near Arcadia, Kansas. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
