GIRARD, Kan. –– The first county commission meeting of the year was predominately spent talking about the trash problem along U.S. 69 and other roads in the county. Working with a volunteer group headed by Matt VanBecelaere, Arma-resident Melesia Rhodes said in less than two hours, more than 75 bags of trash were collected along a two-mile stretch of 69 Highway between 680th and 700th Streets. She later learned that 248 bags have been collected along the same section over the past year.
