PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg State University senior Austin Jacks has scored his second win in the Cast in Steel competition, hosted annually by the Steel Founders Society of America, for a Celtic leaf sword that took him most of the academic year to create. Jacks’ third place award in the best casting design category follows his first place win in last year’s competition as a member of the team that created the winning Thor’s hammer project. This year, he competed as an individual, earning special recognition for a team event typically done by four or more students.
