GIRARD, Kan. — Residents of Prairie View Estates, a new housing development 1.5 miles east of Ascension Via Christi Hospital on Centennial Drive, have presented a signed petition to the county commissioners for improvements to the main road leading into the neighborhood. Currently a gravel street, residents want the county to build “an asphalt road to County specifications” with access to each property in the subdivision. According to the petition, the new road will cost $66,800, but the residents have agreed to take on a special assessment of their properties to pay for 100 percent of the road’s construction.
